Following over 25 years working as a Chartered Accountant in senior financial roles, Ian fulfilled a long-held ambition to establish his own business and founded Vertis Accounting in 2018.
He wanted Vertis to reflect the characteristics he had developed in his own career – friendliness, approachability and a down-to-earth practical approach to financial issues. His aim has always been that Vertis should offer a distinctive, responsive and personal service to its clients, with total professionalism at its heart. He is the epitome of the ‘hands on’ owner Director, and is always the first point of contact for established clients, as well as leading on all new relationships.
Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 with Coopers & Lybrand, he has since gained an MBA from the University of Birmingham Business School and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. His experience spans numerous business sectors and types, including a Plc, one of the UK’s largest charities, and a French-owned UK start up.
As an early adopter of the business benefits of digital financial management, he has been an active proponent and user of cloud based accounting software for over 10 years, and is proud to call Vertis a ‘Digital Practice’. His depth of experience, and broad sector knowledge, benefits all Vertis’ clients as well as volunteer projects for several charities that he is involved with.
Originally from the North West of England, Ian is married with two adult children. He has lived in Worcester since 2005, and consequently feels a strong attachment to the city and its surrounding business community. When not working, he may well be found on a bicycle – usually somewhere in Europe – or indeed anywhere that combines great scenery and sunshine!
